THE IRWIN S. CHANIN SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
2021 END OF YEAR SHOW
The annual End of Year Show is a decades-old tradition at The Cooper Union, a moment when the schools of Architecture, Art, and Engineering mark the end of the academic year by mounting exhibitions of student work in the Foundation Building and 41 Cooper Square. Each year this celebratory act shares the work of the school with alumni and the general public.
Although the school’s buildings remain in accessible to the public, the faculty, students, and staff of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture have collaborated to create a twofold exhibition this year: this website and an installation of fourteen digital monitors along the Foundation Building’s first floor, west-facing colonnade on Fourth Avenue between 7th and 8th Streets. Together these exhibition components feature projects and coursework from the 2020-21 academic year across fifteen undergraduate and graduate design studios, as well as numerous seminar courses and electives. The website and digital display represent not only the breadth of work produced over the past nine months, but also the thoughtful, innovative approaches taken by the school’s faculty and students in their explorations of the discipline of architecture.
